Process

During the Spring of 2004, a draft planning document was prepared and submitted to President's Staff and to faculty and administrators. The size of the committee was set by President's Staff and nominations for participation were solicited. Almost 30 names were submitted for the eleven positions. A slate of names was approved by President's Staff that included representation across faculty ranks and divisions as well as administrative units.

Briefly summarized, the I.T. Master Planning process will involve five phases:

Spring/Fall 2004

    1) Research: completed

        a) master plans from peer and aspirational schools

        b) industry literature on I.T. trends

    2) Information gathering: meet with departments and hold colloquy's to determine wants and needs during the next two to five years: in progress

    3) Assimilation and organization:

        a) assemble and organize information

        b) create a draft plan to address wants and needs

Spring 2005

    4) Community input on draft plan: meet with departments and/or hold general colloquy's to get feedback on draft document

    5) Complete plan for review by appropriate bodies
